Monday's Show and Tell

Just had to show you all - I finished my UFO from last Thursday!!!

The quilt ended up being 55inch x 63 inch. Just a nice size for a lap quilt or a top covering for the bed.
Here is a close up of my machine quilting. Interesting effect using diagonal quilting across the corners of the blocks.

I machine quilted using a variegated thread - Gutermann SULKY 100% Cotton thread Colour 4031 (Country Colonial)

Hip Hip Hooray - a finished quilt!!

UFO Thursday

Dragged this one out of my UFO box (yes I actually have a box full!!)
I started this Square in a Square quilt in September 2010 after liking the idea of a "Quilt-Along" on Fat Quarterly blog using one jelly roll.
The first week had cutting instructions, the second week was piecing instructions, the third week quilt top assembly and the last week was finishing the quilt.
In the first week I started cutting but then I pieced some together to see what it would look like and continued like this - cutting and piecing. After sewing about 30 blocks over a few weeks I put it in a bag and put it in the cupboard!!

I used a Moda jelly roll called Free Bird by Mo Mo

Have a look at Cookies and Cream Craft to see who else has been stitching today.
Back to stitching now to see how many more blocks I can do before dinner time. (50 to go!)

Monday's Show and Tell

My first post for Cookie's and Cream Craft Monday's Show and Tell. I have been following this for ages too!
My Show and Tell is a Christmas Wall Hanging (18 inch square) called 'This Christmas Night' designed by Gail Pan

I participated in Christmas In July with Quilt Fabric Delight
This was a month long online class run by Sarah in July 2010 which had us all stitching lots of different projects from a variety of designers (Sarah Leak , Natalie Lymer , Gail Pan , Rachel Measham-Pywell  , Cheryl Goss , Amanda Bergamin, Melissa Goodsell , Natalie Ross , Rachael Merrick , Janelle Wind , Lisa Cox)
There was also competitions , a forum, chats, friends made (Deanna from USA, Florence from France and Sharon from Australia), a Flickr group and Sarah also organised a Christmas ornament swap for those who were interested for Christmas 2010.
Hoping Sarah is running this in July 2011 - I will definately join again.

UFO Thursday

My first post for UFO Thursday at Cookies and Cream Craft. I have been following Sandy and everyone else since Sandy started this special UFO day. I have MANY UFO's which I hope to share with you.
I received Bali Pops (Cotton Candy) for my 2010 birthday and started making this quilt in March last year! The top didn't take long to make at all - strip piecing and then cross cutting, but it has taken me an extra long long time to pin it together. Today I got it out and started quilting - I've got lots of it done and I am very pleased with myself. I'm hoping to finish the quilting today and prepare the binding - so I can sit and sew the binding on while relaxing in front of the TV.

Hopefully I can show you the finished quilt soon.

6inch Block Swap - March

I have just joined this group and have made my first blocks.
Here is a sneak peek of the block I made for Sue for the 6inch block swap. Sue requested a sawtooth star - white tone on tone with red or blue. As I was making two, I made one of each colour.

Mobile Phone Cover

Something I made for myself last year.
I followed the pattern for the iphone/ipod pouch from Janelle Wind's book "Pieces of Me" (my phone is a Nokia E63 with a QWERTY keyboard and I didn't need to change the patten at all)
I LOVE the pocket on the front (under the ruffle) and use it to put my driver's licence and scraps of notepaper. It also fits business cards.

Valentine's Day Swap

I recently participated in a Valentine's Day Swap organised by Sandy at Cookies and Cream Craft

This is what I made for Cassie:
A fabric bucket in MY favourite colours (hot pink and lime) with heart buttons. Some heart chocolates (of course), love note lollies, heart post it notes and a covered exercise book.
The pattern is from Australian designer Janelle Wind's book "Pieces of Me"

This is what Cassie sent me:
(Thanks Cassie - I love everything you made and sent to me)
