Monday's Show and Tell

Show and Tell for today is my lovely scissor keep I received from my swap partner Anita, who lives in the Netherlands.

Anita totally spoiled me with my scissor keep and she made me a needle keep and a special purse to keep them in. This was all wrapped in the gorgeous butterfly fabric that she chose for me and tied with some white ric rac - all my favourite things.
Thanks so much Anita. My scissors and I are very happy!!
Thanks Sandy from Cookies and Cream Craft for oganising this Scissor Keep Swap - another skill you have taught me!

Once Anita has received her parcel from me - I will show you the very first scissor keep I have made.
Sandy has a Scissor Keep that she made for her Show and Tell for a different swap.
And to see another Scisssor Keep - My friend Florence from France has the Scissor Keep she received from her swap partner Maria on her blog Chez Princesse Nounouche

Monday's Show and Tell

Here's some Show and Tell !
Vignette In Stitches 16 Block Mystery Quilt - I know this started months ago and I have been closely following everyone's progress (especially Sandy and FloS !! And I've just spotted Shez, Dawn(flowerofshona) and Kathy - ladies I have swapped with and who are followers of my blog) and I really want to make this lovely quilt.
In the meantime I have been looking at the magazine, reading the Vignette in Stitches blog and trying to find the courage to begin.
After spending most of last week in bed and feeling absolutely miserable with the flu, I took myself off to Spotlight to get something which I did not purchase, and came back with a PILE of fabrics for this quilt! Who can resist fabric on special - some were $6 per metre and 30% off! And I then HAD to go again the next day!!!
So last night I started and spent the evening stitching while watching TV ! Lovely !

Decided to give myself some time to finish!

I decided to use this instead of the red spotty for the borders

My fabric - still need a few more colours!

Issue 4 is on the way very soon - so maybe I will jump straight to this and try and keep up to date while catching up????

I made this mug rug for Kathy

Front and back
I followed this tutorial from Patchwork Notes to make my mug rug

Mug rug I received from Kathy - even a special pocket for a teabag!

Monday's Show and Tell

I have been saving this to share with you for Monday's Show and Tell with Sandy at Cookies and Cream Craft.
This is my Santa Sack I received from my swap partner Geniene

Oh my goodness - what a lot of work she has done for me! I just LOVE my Santa Sack!
I am very impressed by her stitching and her colour choice. And he certainly is a Jolly Old St Nick!

I was VERY excited when I opened my parcel! Lots of presents (2 for July and 2 for August) which I did not poke or squeeze!
Look at these beautiful butterflies (and chocolates too!) - she knows me well
I have put my presents in my Santa Sack and will add more presents from Geniene every month until Christmas. Then I can open them all!!
If you missed my earlier post about the Santa Sack I sent to Geniene - it is HERE

Monday's Show and Tell

In April I joined up for another swap - the Santa Sack Swap organised by Cheryll. (closed now)
It is for 6 months (July to December) and two small presents are sent every month with a Santa Sack sent with the July presents to our swap partner and a larger Christmas present sent in December. We had to promise not to poke, squeeze or open our presents until Christmas Day!

Here's the Santa Sack I made for my swap partner Geniene who's favourite colours are yellow, purple and blue. (lining is blue)

The pattern I used was from Australia Homespun No. 30 Vol 6 No. 4 Christmas In July Special from 2005.

It was certainly challenging as I am fairly new to stitchery, have never made prairie points, and had to understand the putting the 3 layers together with a casing strip, a lining and a drawstring! I'm very happy with the result.

Hope you will have a look at yesterday's blog post "Exciting News to Share" while you are here and share in my excitement!

Monday's Show and Tell

In April/May this year I participated in Cookies and Cream Craft  first Zippy Purse Swap.
My Show and Tell today is the zippy purses I received from my lovely partner Christine from US.

She made me THREE zippy purses and filled each with surprises! All completely different and all so beautifully made.
Thank you so much Christine - I think of you each time I use my zippy purses.

Here is the one I made for Christine - my first zippy purse (not counting my practice one!)

Monday's Show and Tell

Something I made from my online stitching retreat Let's Stitch for the month of May run by Sarah at Quilt Fabric Delights  (the ONLY thing I actually made from Let's Stitch for the whole month though!!)
This pattern is from Rachael Merrick and is called "Teatime" - I did struggle a bit cutting up a doiley though!

Monday's Show and Tell

I know how you all LOVE hexagon's!
I made these framed hexagons out of some ancient scrap material I "inherited" from my Nana after she passed away in 2002. I made it for my aunt.

Monday's Show and Tell

Sneak Peek from last Saturday revealed!!

Christine has received her Zippy Purse so now I can show you what I made for her.

I had never made a Zippy Purse before I joined the Zippy Purse Swap at Cookies and Cream Craft.
I made a practice one first (this is now mine with all it's imperfections!) and then I made Christine's.
The pattern I used is from Moda Bake Shop: Strippy Charm Pouch

I can see lots more of these being made in the future!

Monday's Show and Tell

Yesterday for Mother's Day I was surprised with a floor lamp.
For way too long I've been straining (and complaining!) to see properly to stitch at night while watching TV.

I'm so happy that I was listened to!
I LOVE my new lamp.
